How to make a com dressing room in a square hallway. Built-in wardrobes: how to install

Creating an interior in a house or apartment implies not only its aesthetic component, but also practical, namely, optimization of living space. Many people wonder how best to have a dressing room in the corridor if there is a shortage of space in the housing. In addition, this solution will allow to modernize the hallway, to make it more attractive to guests.

To create a reliable and convenient place to store a large number of things, a sturdy structure is installed that most efficiently uses the space of the room. This will be an extremely useful solution for small hallways. Compared to a conventional cabinet, the dressing room wins in terms of efficiency due to the lack of gaps between the walls of the room and the external panels of the cabinet. This, of course, applies to the built-in wardrobe type.

Also, the price of built-in furniture is lower than that of cabinet-type furniture. This means that only the internal structure of the cabinet and its front part are retained. In addition, the overturning of such furniture is completely excluded.

The wardrobe, unlike a conventional wardrobe, is designed to serve as a room for changing clothes. This is one of the main advantages of this segment of furniture.

Having decided to organize a dressing room in his hallway, one can count on the fact that this furniture will be mounted on almost any surface, regardless of their shape or defects. Of course, the result depends directly on the skill of the installer. In addition, it will be a great place to store bulky sports equipment, such as skis or snowboards.

Despite a number of advantages of the built-in wardrobe, it also has disadvantages:

 • the built-in wardrobe is a stationary design. Its installation is carried out only once and is adjusted to the specific dimensions of the room. Carrying such a dressing room is excluded, since the likelihood that it will suit other surfaces for installation is extremely small;
 • in case of dismantling the built-in structure, it will be necessary to make repairs in the installation area, since there will be traces of fastenings on the walls and ceiling.

Kinds

The diversity in the design and functionality of the dressing rooms creates an incredibly large space in order to create an exclusive interior design. Basically, this segment of furniture is divided into structures made of metal frames, structures made of chipboard panels. The second type wins in price and the possibility of self-modification, however, it looks more cumbersome. If installation cannot be done directly on the wall or ceiling, then a wardrobe box is created.

You can also classify built-in wardrobes by type of door, location in the room:

 • swing doors in the dressing room can be used if it is not possible to install sliding doors. Despite its extraordinary nature, this type of door can be very useful if you install shelves for small accessories on their inner side or equip it with a small hanger. Louvred doors can become a very interesting design decision, which will also provide the necessary ventilation inside the structure;
 • the installation of open shelves is dictated to a greater extent by modern trends; it has several advantages over closed shelves. This option makes all things visually accessible, which speeds up the dressing process. Such a solution will make the dressing room visually spacious, lighter. In the case of using metal structures, it will be ideally combined with the design of the room in the modern or high-tech style;
 • compartment doors are the most common type of wardrobe enclosure from room space. This type of door is designed to save space in the corridor. Also on the sliding doors you can install a large mirror;
 • a corner dressing room in the corridor is considered very useful if it has a square shape. It is especially good to use this type of furniture structure if the corner is between two doors. This will avoid creating an obstacle in the passage of one opening to another;
 • creating a dressing room in a niche is one of the most convenient ways to organize storage for things. The very concept of a dressing room in a niche already implies its large internal space, which will allow you to easily enter inside, use the niche as a closet and as a place where you can easily change clothes.

Materials for the manufacture of facades

Today, among the facades installed on the dressing rooms, sliding mechanisms are in the lead. They left behind swing doors and folding doors with accordion construction. Despite the preferences of designers, each type has its advantages and disadvantages. The main materials used for manufacturing are metal, wood, MDF plastic, particleboard and glass. Dressing rooms in the photo corridor will help to better understand what materials they can be made of:

 • surfaces of facades equipped with a mirror are considered comfortable. In it, you can easily see yourself in full growth. In the case of a wardrobe, the mirror should be located inside the store. It can be tinted, matte or stylized as Retro, thereby eliminating excessive catchiness;
 • the most common are facades made of particleboard and MDF. Particleboard veneered with veneer or laminated, and MDF can be painted and applied to the image surface. MDF is a malleable material. Facades made from it with the help of milling can be of any even the most complex form;
 • new and still not popular, these are solid high panels, but they differ in a rather high cost;
 • also for the facade of the dressing room use translucent panels that create the impression of spaciousness of the room. Designers do not bypass the facades of tempered lacquered glass;
 • natural wood is a material for facades in a classical style. Such a wardrobe design will emphasize the respectability and taste of homeowners;
 • combined facades made of several materials. For example, the frame can be aluminum, wood or plastic, and part of the surface area of the doors is made of glass or plexiglass.

Translucent panels

Today, chipboard panels are used as material for storage systems. They are distinguished by a high level of strength, low price and the ability to create any requested form. In addition to wooden elements for furniture structures, aluminum, chromed metals and other accessories for furniture are used.

The functionality of the dressing room and its interior space depend on the method of filling and the materials used. Even the smallest dressing room is able to accommodate a large number of clothes, things, provided that it is properly designed.

For a more ergonomic distribution of storage space, it is worth dividing it into three zones: bottom, middle and top. Each of these zones has its own task, so each of them should be formed in a clear way:

 • the lower zone is intended mainly for storing things that are rarely used. It can be equipped with large drawers for bedding, blankets, rugs and other household supplies. It is also considered acceptable to place a shoe compartment in this area, but it should be made high (more than 45 cm) so that high women's boots can be stored there. On the lower zone, you can also place wardrobe boxes and baskets;
 • the middle zone is for frequently used items. It is necessary to equip it with rods, the height of which will allow you to hang the longest clothes on them. In addition, the middle level is filled with open shelves and drawers. In order for everything to be in the field of view, boxes, shelves must be placed at eye level. A useful idea in this case is the use of glass for the manufacture of front panels of furniture elements. This will extend the life of the moving mechanisms. The middle zone usually takes from 60 to 90 centimeters;
 • upper zone - a zone of hats, rarely used things. This zone is located above the middle, reaches the ceiling. It is usually equipped with doors. It is worth noting that the depth of the upper zone should remain small in order to be able to get things from each far corner.

A variety of furniture, accessories, materials for filling allows everyone to create a dressing room to their own taste.

There is an entrance hall in every house. As a rule, it is a small room without windows, on the interior of which the opinion of guests about the owner of the house depends. Usually in the hallway there is always a dressing room, as it is here that it is customary to store seasonal clothes and shoes. She is able to replace herself with such a familiar wardrobe. Today we’ll talk about the design of the dressing room in the hallway with a photo.

 Pros and cons of having a walk-in closet in the hallway

If furniture is custom-built and built-in, it is designed in such a way as to adapt as much as possible to the conditions in which it will be placed. All surfaces fit tightly to the walls and ceiling, so there are no gaps, and the design looks monolithic.

Since the amount of materials for the manufacture of built-in furniture is less than for cabinet furniture, the cost of such furniture options is lower. So, for example, to design a niche in the form of a sliding wardrobe, you do not need to additionally carry out the frame, you can just put the doors and create an internal content. You can also save money on making a wardrobe in the hallway, if most of the work is done independently.

For the installation of built-in furniture is the fact that it is more stable. During operation, such furniture items will not tip over or move.

If the hallway has a non-standard shape or size, only built-in furniture can be installed in it, since the cabinet is usually represented only by rectangular shapes without the possibility of adjustment.

The built-in dressing room in the hallway will help to save space, as it is installed completely between the walls, floor and ceiling. This fact is very important for small rooms. If we talk about cabinet furniture, then almost always there is a space between the surface of the furniture and the wall, which indicates the irrational use of space.

Thanks to the built-in furniture, you can significantly align the ceiling, walls and floor of the room. But the cabinet will not be able to do this because of its rectangular shape, which will focus on any surface flaw.

But the built-in furniture option has its own negative features:

 • The complexity of installation, which in some cases can only be done by professionals.
 • The built-in furniture in the hallway cannot be moved to another place, since it is performed strictly according to the geometry and dimensions of a certain area.
 • Such furniture can ruin the walls, since it can only be built in by attaching directly to their surface.

 Varieties of walk-in closets

At the moment, there are many types of dressing rooms for hallways, which can vary in appearance and their functional features.

 Wardrobe with swing type doors

These dressing rooms are perfect for classic interiors. The size of the dressing room will directly depend on the free space in the hallway. Such a piece of furniture will be different from others if you use unique fittings.

Typically, the interior of such a dressing room in the hallway consists of three sections. The lower one is for the location of the shoes, the middle one is for the clothes that are currently being worn, and the upper is for hats. The disadvantage of such a storage system is that the swing type doors are not always convenient for the small dimensions of the hallway.

 Dressing room with compartment doors

This option is the most popular in the hallways due to the ability to save a lot of space, which is already scarce in modern apartments. Doors are mounted directly to the ceiling and floor, which is the most successful, in terms of reliability and practicality.

Typically, such a cabinet is installed along one of the walls of the hallway. Its length directly depends on the length of the wall itself, and the width - on the dimensions of the corridor. Even in the smallest hallway, you can install a wardrobe, as it is a universal piece of furniture.

 Open dressing room

Usually, everyone tries to hide the contents of the cabinets behind the doors, but there are interiors in which the presence of open shelves is necessary. For such hallways dressing rooms with open space are also installed.

This design can mean either the complete exclusion of facades, or their partial presence. If there are no doors, then the entire internal space consists only of dividers and shelves.

If there is a certain number of doors, the central part is left empty for the possibility of hanging outer clothing, and the upper and lower sectors are closed by doors. For small items and organizing the space in such wardrobes, wicker baskets of various sizes are used. Also often such a dressing room has a seat that runs along the entire length of the cabinet, which is quite practical and convenient in a small room.

 Corner Wardrobe

If the hallway is large enough, then a corner-type wardrobe can be installed in it, which can accommodate all the necessary things for family members.

Inside this design, in the hallway, as a rule, a lot of shelves, drawers, hooks and other elements are formed to arrange everything necessary. To hide the visual massiveness, the corner dressing room in the hallway is performed both with the presence of closed and open shelves. This option becomes the best alternative to a separate wardrobe in the room.

 Niche Wardrobe

Owners who have a niche in the hallway are very lucky, since it is there that you can create a separate built-in wardrobe and not violate the integrity of the space.

Advice! To obtain the effect of a niche, you can arrange the side wall of the dressing room similar to the design of the walls in the room.

 Wardrobe materials

Now you can make a dressing room from any material that only seems most attractive to the owner. But within reason, of course. Furniture manufacturers offer both the most expensive and low-cost wardrobe options. It can be facades made of MDF, natural wood, chipboard sheets, perforated metal, mirrors or glass. Dressing rooms look very original, which combine several solutions, for example, a combination of a mirror with photo printing.

When choosing, it is worth remembering that for a small hallway room it is best to choose light furniture that will visually increase the space. And for a spacious hallway, on the contrary, you can use dark objects that will add charm and elegance to the overall room.

 Wardrobe interior

For ease of use and maintaining order in the dressing room, it is necessary to carry out zoning of its internal space. Usually for each family member there is a separate zone, which is complemented by a common one. The space thought out beforehand will help to use it as rationally as possible.

As for the internal content, it all depends on the wishes of the owner. It can be done in a modern design using shelves and bars made of metal, or in the classic one with wooden shelves, drawers and hangers.

The following elements act as functionality: rods, pull-out hangers for trousers, drawers, shelves, hangers for storing scarves, ties and other accessories, baskets and boxes, systems for convenient storage of shoes, sections for storing household items, such as mops, buckets and other inventory.

In general, according to the internal content, wardrobes are divided into frame and panel. The first option is based on metal racks. This configuration makes it possible, like a designer, to create the interior of a wardrobe. This design is simply fixed to the walls of the hallway of various types, and can also be changed at will. It can also be dismantled and installed anywhere else in the house.

Important! When installing a frame dressing room in the hallway, it is worth considering the ability of all elements to support the weight of heavy things.

The panel design of the wardrobe looks much more solid, but takes an order of magnitude more space. In this case, all storage modules are attached to the panel on the wall. This version of the dressing room can be made of any material, but most often it is made of MDF with veneer finish. If the interior is exclusive and expensive, then an array cannot be dispensed with. But, contrary to this, experts believe that creating a dressing room from an array will be an irrational decision to use space. For a large number of things, a simpler option is suitable.

Important! Before buying items for the dressing room or contacting a specialized creation company, you need to draw up an approximate project of what you want to achieve as a result.

 Recommendations for creating a wardrobe interior

There are several rules for a more efficient location in the interior of the dressing room:

 Conclusion

Wardrobe in the hallway is the right decision. It will help to rationally use the space and make it as convenient as possible to arrange all available things in order to eliminate clutter in other rooms.

The wardrobe room is not only very practical, but also fashionable: everyone around you gasps when you see how awe you relate to your own things! Not every modern apartment has a place for a full room for storing clothes, and many dwell on a compromise option - a dressing room in the hallway.

Features and Benefits

All the necessary things in perfect order and always at hand - this is the main idea of any dressing room. And if at the same time she is at the exit from the apartment, then this is just wonderful! In addition, if the dressing room is arranged in the hallway, you can not put bulky wardrobes in the rooms, for example, in the bedroom, as is customary. The house has more space and light.

Unlike other options, the dressing room in the hallway is the best suited for storing purely street items - gloves, scarves, umbrellas, sports equipment and clothing. If the place permits, in such a dressing room it is quite possible to place household supplies, as well as a safe, an electric meter, an alarm control panel, etc.

Of course, under the dressing room you need to allocate space. In the spacious entrance hall you can make a built-in wardrobe. If you paste over its walls with the same wallpaper as the walls of the hallway, visually it will resemble a niche. In some apartments, by the way, such niches are created specifically.

It is very good if the pantry adjoins the entrance from some side - you can combine these two spaces.

Wardrobe in the hallway can be of three types:

 1. Closed
 2. Open
 3. Combined

A closed dressing room is a large wardrobe. As a rule, it is closed by compartment doors with a mirror on the outside. Open - shelving with shelves or open storage systems with rails for hangers and baskets. Such a dressing room takes up less space, but requires an ideal order, because everything is in sight in it.

Combined wardrobe is a system when part of the space is open, and part - for example, upper or lower shelves, is closed from the eyes. This allows you to maintain order, as well as remove those things that you do not use daily.

Every centimeter is important

For an ordinary family with 1-2 children, the best wardrobe option is 4-5 m². In such a space, you can place all the household items and accessories. If there is very little space, you can equip the dressing room and 2m². In principle, such an area is no different from a standard wardrobe, however, the space in it will be used more rationally.

In a small hallway, a dressing room is made near the largest wall. Sliding doors are installed from floor to ceiling and across the entire width. This option is successful, even if the hallway is narrow and long. Shelves, rails, hooks, shoe racks, baskets and boxes are installed inside. The essence of any dressing room, and even less so, is that there can be no useless space. Shelves start from the ceiling itself - there you can hide a lot of things that you do not need constantly. For convenience, you will need to purchase a stand or a small stepladder.

If there is not enough space, you should pay attention to the corner wardrobe. It can be a corner wardrobe or a shelf with partially closed shelves. There are projects where the corner is simply fenced off with a wall made of drywall, in which the door is made, and shelves for storage are placed inside directly on the walls. It turns out a wardrobe of a triangular shape.

There are options for a mini-dressing room. This is a small open system for storing essentials, which stands at the front door. Most often, this is a shoe shelf, railing for hangers with outerwear, hooks for umbrellas and an upper shelf for hats and accessories.

Internal filling

In total, according to the internal structure, the dressing rooms can be divided into:

 1. Wireframe
 2. Panel

The frame wardrobe at the base has metal racks. On them, like a designer, according to an individual project, a storage system is assembled: rails, baskets, rods and shelves. This design is easily attached to walls of various types, easily changed (holes for mounting modules in metal racks are at very different heights) and, if desired, it can be independently dismantled and moved to any other place in the house. To create such a dressing room in the hallway, consider stability - metal hooks and shelves must withstand heavy outerwear.

The panel design takes up more space, but it looks very solid. Typically, storage modules are attached to a panel that simply stands against a wall or is attached to it. This stationary version is made from various materials, but most often from MDF with veneer of various wood species. In an expensive interior, of course, an array (classic) will look best. Experts believe that in the pursuit of the beauty and status of such a design, the wardrobe loses its functionality and is not always rationally created. So if you need to place a lot of things, the simpler the project, the better.

photos

Having decided on the type of internal design, you need to create a project for the future dressing room. If you plan to contact specialists, a simple drawing on paper will suffice.

A few secrets for successfully placing things:

 • Grouping clothes. Upper - underwear - underwear. Summer-winter-demi-season. Women's-male-children's. There can be a ton of options; come up with your own. The most important thing is that the clothes that are worn at the moment and correspond to the season are before your eyes, and everything else is far away.
 • The length of things and the understanding of what should be stored on hangers and what is folded. According to the number of long (dresses, trousers) and short (jackets, jackets, blouses, shirts) things in the project, rods are created at different heights and corresponding lengths. Knitwear, jeans, and delicate items are best stored folded - they will need shelves.

 • Shoes are stored either in shoe racks (ideally inclined, where the shoes are upright) or in boxes on shelves. Seasonal pairs are placed in the “access zone”, non-seasonal pairs are removed up or down. Boxes must be signed, and it is best to purchase special boxes with a transparent window to see which pair is inside.
 • Using storage accessories. Shelves and drawers are, of course, good, but there are many devices that can fit a huge amount of clothing in a tiny wardrobe. For example, a chain for hangers. So you can hang shirts or t-shirts. In appearance, of course, it resembles a clothing market, but each shirt will be in sight. There are special trempels for accessories, belts, belts, trousers. For ordering in drawers with socks and linen, use dividers.

Systems

As apartments in cities are becoming smaller, the problem of storing a large number of things is becoming more relevant. Some companies make the creation of wardrobe systems their main profile.

“Sail and K” - positions itself as the first Russian manufacturer of storage systems. The company offers to develop an individual design project or purchase a turnkey solution in standard sizes. Among the finished systems there is an office, a nursery, a system for a pantry and a dressing room for a hallway. It consists of two rows of mesh shelves on top, two rows - below, four spacious baskets and a rail for hangers.

In this article I will tell you what dressing rooms for the hallway exist. You will find out what functions they have and what material they are made of. We will consider the types of wardrobes: corner, built-in, closed and open, mini-lockers. Their advantages and disadvantages. I will introduce you to examples of ready-made halls with different contents.

Features and advantages of the wardrobe in the hallway

In a modern home, the wardrobe performs many functions. Thanks to this element of furniture, in a limited space at the same time will be located:

 • wardrobe with and numerous lockers;
 • stylish wardrobe that fits into the interior;
 • wardrobe, where outerwear, things and shoes will be placed.

The main advantage is the absence of problems with maintaining order in the apartment

A roomy compartment allows you to organize additional space for storing things. It takes up exactly as much space as the room allows, but it brings a lot of benefits. Its functionality depends on the content.

To determine the choice of suitable furniture for the hallway, you need to get acquainted with what types of dressing rooms exist.

Types of Wardrobe

Our wardrobe should be organized so that any item can be easily found. Dressing rooms are ideally suited for this, they are divided into 4 types.

Corner. This option is suitable for a spacious entrance hall. The corner version will fit all things. A spacious storage system with shelves, drawers and hangers can be arranged inside the corner structure. The option can be fully closed, partially open and embedded.

Closed a view can have two types of doors: hinged and type. Its size depends on the availability of free space in the room. As for the functionality, traditionally equip the lower shelf under the shoes, the upper under the caps, the rest for storage.

Open type placed directly at the door so that you can comfortably store things for every day. Bags, umbrellas, shoes. Such a small dressing room takes up a minimum of space, maybe with a mirror and partially closed, suitable for a small corridor.

Built in The option is angular or straight. Allows you to place things for storage. However, it cannot be moved or moved to another location. It is difficult to assemble it yourself; this design is attached to the wall.

Niche Wardrobe. Owners of a hallway with a niche can easily place a cupboard in it without violating the integrity of the space. This design move is often used when they want to make an imitation of a dressing niche.

Outside, this option is nothing but doors, does not give the presence of a wardrobe inside.

Materials and colors

As for the color scheme, it is selected based on the general interior of the room. The color of the cabinet should be in harmony with the rest of the furniture and the doors in the room.

Thanks to the rich assortment of finished and custom-made furniture, it is easy to choose the right color:

 • the color of natural wood, oak, walnut, wenge, beech and pine will suit the classic interior;
 • to emphasize the hallway, they use shades in the pop art style of red, pink, sand.

Directly the highest quality material is natural wood. However, such cabinets are expensive, so they are often made from combined materials.

The facade can be made of MDF, laminated particleboard, perforated metal, glass or mirrors.

There are no restrictions on the choice of material, it all depends on personal preferences and price.

Internal filling

You can execute it in an economical version or richly budgeted. The following elements act as the main functionality:

 • hangers rods;
 • pull-out hangers and drawers;
 • shelves, baskets and boxes;
 • shoe storage systems;
 • sections for small items.

Inner cabinets are divided into frame and panel type. Inside the cabinet can be equipped with spotlights or. In particular, this applies to closets of a closed type.

If the cabinet is very deep, it is rational to use sliding sections.

To prevent odors from accumulating in the cabinet, it should have good ventilation.

Design Examples

The wardrobe is spacious or in the style of minimalism, has a different shape and content.

Regardless of the room and location, the closet in the hallway performs important functions. The best thing to choose is a roomy, practical and low-maintenance wardrobe. Recommendations will help to do this correctly and quickly.

A wardrobe room is the best option for the neat placement and storage of clothes, shoes and other things. It can be spacious or tiny, have a different shape, content, design and location. However, the hallway is the most familiar and convenient place for everyone to wardrobe.

Features and Benefits

The wardrobe can be a whole room or a small wardrobe. And in fact, and in another case, it has a number of its features and advantages:

 1. Compactness.A small, neat wardrobe can even fit in a very modest entrance hall. Most often, built-in models are used for this purpose.
 2. Availability. The modern variety of building and finishing materials allows you to create very inexpensive models that will not greatly affect the family budget and, at the same time, will perfectly cope with the tasks assigned to them.
 3. Convenience.A wardrobe is a place of simultaneous storage of a wide variety of things (clothes, shoes, gloves, hats, umbrellas, bags). It is much more convenient when all these items are in one place, and not laid out on different shelves, stands, shelves, as is often the case.

In addition to these things, it’s quite possible to store household and sports equipment in the wardrobe.

The advantages of the wardrobe are:

 1. Aesthetics. Thanks to the work of designers, today everyone has a unique opportunity to beautifully, originally, creatively decorate their hallway with a piece of furniture, which also fulfills a significant functional load.
 2. Practicality.Dressing rooms are usually made of very strong, durable, wear-resistant materials that do not require too complicated care.
 3. Correction of the room. The built-in wardrobe will be an ideal solution for filling a niche or a small pantry, which was not planned to be used differently. A wardrobe can perfectly mask the irregularities and flaws of the wall. The mirror adorning the furniture facade will add light to the small room and visually expand it.

In addition to the advantages, there are several disadvantages:

 1. The inability to transfer the built-in wardrobe to another place;
 2. Difficulty of installation (built-in model);
 3. Despite its compactness, the wardrobe takes up enough space. This is especially noticeable within a narrow or small corridor.

Kinds

Wardrobe rooms can differ from each other in several ways (configuration, size, design, content, material, decor).

Corner Wardrobe

This option is most often used in small hallways. Often, it is the only optimal option for arranging the Khrushchev corridor, for example. Properly thought out internal filling allows you to neatly and most rationally place the clothes of all households.

In order for the structure not to look too bulky, the internal system must combine open and closed modules, compartments, drawers, shelves.

Open dressing room

Open dressing room. It is used for halls of different sizes, but it is preferable for small rooms. Of the advantages of this design, it should be noted the feeling of free, bright space.

However, do not forget that all things and clothing will be open to prying eyes all the time.

Such a system consists of wooden or plastic racks, spacious open shelves (at the bottom there can be several shelves with doors), wicker baskets, drawers. Along the shelves or drawers with shoes, you can place a small soft sofa or pouf. Very often, an open-type wardrobe is a smooth continuation of the room, which is why it is designed in the same style with it.

Closed wardrobe

Such a storage system looks perfect in spacious rooms. The wardrobe can be very small or have several sections isolated from each other. The advantages of this type are obvious - things are laid out in a neat order, hidden from prying eyes, they do not get dust from the outside.

If a closed dressing room is not just a wardrobe, but a whole room, then it will be convenient to try on a new outfit or change clothes in it. The wardrobe can be equipped with hinged or sliding doors.

The first option looks perfect in a classic interior. Of course, swing doors require a large space, but they can be given an original and stylish look with the help of interesting decor items or beautiful fittings.

Sliding doors do not “eat up” the space, are convenient to use, and their wide, even and smooth surface can be an excellent basis for various decor options.

Built-in wardrobe

The built-in wardrobe has a number of advantages over case counterparts. Among them:

 1. The cost of the structure is significantly lower due to the saving of material on the frame, which is often replaced by the walls, ceiling and floor of the pantry or niche itself.
 2. Sustainability. It’s impossible to overturn a niche, which cannot be said about a freestanding cabinet.
 3. The feeling of a holistic, monolithic design. All elements of the wardrobe are very tightly adjusted to each other and to the room itself. In addition, a wardrobe arranged in a niche or closet visually enlarges a small space.
 4. Organic Built-in wardrobe fits perfectly into any interior.
 5. Optimality. The option with a built-in wardrobe can sometimes be the only option for a room with a complex architectural form.

There are few disadvantages, but they are:

 1. Inability to use a standard design (built-in wardrobes are made individually for a specific niche size);
 2. Difficulty in installation and assembly.

Materials

Today, there are practically no restrictions on the choice of materials for creating and decorating a dressing room. It can be budget and luxury options for every taste and budget. Among the most used materials today: laminated particleboard, MDF, natural wood, metal, plastic, glass, mirror.

Most original look models made in a combination of several different texture materials, for example, wood and glass, plastic and photo wallpaper.

Wood is a wonderful natural material, which has long been very popular in the construction and decoration of houses, furniture, interior decoration. Today, few people prefer to use the array to create dressing rooms, choosing more budget materials.

However, it is almost impossible to replace the noble, beautiful, strong, “living” wood with its unique smell and healing properties.

Wardrobe from solid oak, beech, alder, ash, pine, maple are made to order. Such models have a number of advantages:

 1. Strength, durability;
 2. Excellent decorative properties;
 3. Environmental friendliness, safety.

Wood is a very malleable material. From it you can create the most complex architectural designs and carved decorative elements. It looks great in its natural form and is suitable for coloring, gluing, tinting, artificial aging.

Wooden wardrobe in any interior looks appropriate, expensive and dignified.

Accommodation options

There are many ways to place a dressing room in the hallway or hallway. It all depends on its layout, size, design project, dimensions of the furniture itself:

 • In a niche. Such an architectural element as a niche helps to create a separate, compact and well-organized dressing room, even in a one-room apartment. Of course, it should match the style and color scheme of the hallway interior.

Doors in a niche can be sliding, hinged, folding (like an accordion) or swinging.

 • If the design of the pantry or niche is not provided, then the wardrobe can be arranged in an empty corner of the hallway.Even a small cabinet will completely cope with its task, the main thing is that it be as high as possible. On the top shelf you can place hats, bags, suitcases, boxes with seasonal items.

 • If the dimensions of the hallway allow, then the wardrobe system can be positioned along one of the walls. It can consist of a sliding wardrobe, an open or closed rack, a mezzanine and other elements.

Space organization

The general view of the dressing room and the convenience of using it depend on how well-organized the space is and the smallest details are thought out.

 1. Planning begins with the design of the largest and longest departments for clothes. Shelves, drawers, baskets are designed according to the residual principle.
 2. The depth of a standard shelf usually does not exceed 1 meter. Larger shelves should be extendable.
 3. The length of the bar under the hangers should not be more than 1-1.2 meters due to the possibility of sagging under heavy outer clothing.
 4. The passage between the shelves should not be less than 60 cm, and if the drawers and shelves are provided for by their design features, then for comfortable use another about half a meter should be added.

As for the design, the dressing room should be in harmony with the overall interior of the hallway. Classic is always appropriate - natural materials, traditional colors, mirror design.

Internal filling

Correctly organized interior space of the wardrobe will help to beautifully and accurately lay out and hang out the necessary clothes, linen, shoes and other things.

Among the main functional elements that will help to cope with this task, the following can be distinguished:

 • Rod or pantograph (for placing hangers with clothes);
 • Scissors and skirts;
 • Boxes;
 • Shelves;
 • Baskets;
 • Hangers for ties, umbrellas, belts;
 • Sections for storing household and sports equipment.
